Main Street Andover
A planning and design study undertaken by the project team of Haas Landscape Architects and JHL-Tecture focusing on the revitalization of this quaint historic downtown. A day-long workshop was hosted to guide the effort and build consensus. An assessment of existing site and building conditions and proposed developments was prepared. Design concepts for building facades and streetscape improvements proposed two options for infill development and open space. Guidelines included for Historic Andover to use in assessing building alterations. Concerns of aesthetics, access, and parking addressed. Vintage lights to match original gas lamps recommended. ADA/ AASHTO standards applied. Coordination with Village, Town, NYSDOT, and Historic Andover. Final Report focused on the Streetscape and Built environments. Implementation Strategy and Cost Analysis discussed. Project funded by the NYS Council on the Arts (NYSCA), and received a TEA-21 Grant in 2002.
